Childrens books

Illustrated Tales of the Old Forest Folk now available from our website or on Amazon!

The first three in our series of illustrated children's stories of the Old Forest Folk have now been published and are
available to buy from our website.
Set in and around the New Forest, these tales follow the magical Old Forest Folk as they help the seasons change and bring harmony to all they meet.
A Mid-Winter Tale tells the story of a desperate search for a hedgehog called Bramble. Will they manage to find her before the snow covers her for winter?
The second story follows the adventures of Hekit when magic goes wrong and he shrinks to the same size as the insects who then must help him try and get home.
Our third story, set in late summer follows Niloc as he undertakes a very important mission to see whether the season is changing.

We really hope that you enjoy our stories with their colourful illustrations and look out for the next  installment in the series which we are currently writing.
All our book prices include for postage and packing.

Starting with an idea that I had one day about the people who lived in the New Forest before it was designated as "New" in 1086 they are based on Saxons who would have inhabited this lovely place. Please visit their page to meet them all... If you would like to buy direct then please send us a contact form.

Our Collections

Our ranges include, goblets, rings, bowls, candlesticks and tea holders. There are also wine racks, lamps, small mushrooms and wands, all made from sustainably sourced New Forest timber.

Please check out our site for the pieces that we have designed and made so far and feel free to contact us if you should have any specific requirements or a new idea that you would like us to make for you.
The most important thing about our products is that they are unique. They are individually designed from wood sourced from sustainable supplies from the New Forest, They are all handmade from start to finish and for this reason we simply don't make two of anything the same. Each individual piece of is different and has individual characteristics and properties. When we start working a piece we try and bring out the best and most beautiful elements of that product. Peeling away layers of timber that have sometimes been growing for decades, we uncover the grain, colour, shapes, and finishes that would have otherwise remained undiscovered. We bring the wood to life and try to let it tell its own story. Much of our timber was destined for open fires or log burners, but instead we uncover its heart and turn it into a piece of art

Important to us - being part of the New Forest.....

All of our wood is sourced from sustainable sources within the New Forest from tree surgeons and woodland managers who can offer New Forest Marque status.

Bashley Art are aiming for New Forest Marque status ourselves and hope to gain this very soon.

Made to last

We aim for clarity and openness in all areas and have designed a system that means that our customers can  can also identify exactly when a specific piece was completed. A brass hand-engraved disc is added to all items (except rings) with the serial number detailing year and month then item number for that month. For example the photo of a yew tea-light holder below shows 1705-5 which denotes a tealight holder made in 2017 (17) in the month of May (05) and was the 5th item made during this period (-5). As many of our pieces are expected to last hundreds of years we believe that this is something that may be useful on the Antiques Roadshow one day...
